Our Practice
Welcome to Bitter & Balance
Our mission
To help you help you.
At Bitter & Balance we believe in meeting our patients where they are at and strive to fully support their health related goals. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine looks at all systems of the body as a whole, working holistically to get a full picture of diagnosis. This can be especially useful for persons with chronic conditions and illness, who often see multiple practitioners at one time. We work to provide cohesive care by helping our patients create a full care plan for a better quality of life.
Our practitioners are experienced working with people of all different backgrounds and health histories providing space where non-judgment is core to treatment.
our values
Health care is an essential human right. We value quality, safe and inclusive healthcare for all people. At Bitter & Balance we work to continue to educate ourselves on inequality related to access to care, noting that this particularly affects marginalized communities. The historical and present-day significance of this can often lead to mistrust around medical systems and people not getting the care the need. We work to continue to educate ourselves on anti-racism, equity, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and xenophobia in these systems.
Stay tuned for introducing a reduced rate program for communities in need of care!

Sustainable practice model
Sustainability for the patient and practitioner. We firmly believe in advocating for our patients in what they need to live a better quality of life. We also facilitate the ability for practitioners at Bitter & Balance to do the work they do by ensuring time for self-care and well-being. We believe that you can’t do your best work without the support of a community and firmly believe in taking time off, recoup, rest and connection. We feel that this model allows for the best care for our patients without the risk of burn-out. Burn-out is often common in the healthcare professions and we want to be a leader in addressing this.
As we continue to grow we will provide updates on what we are doing to productively address our “mission”, “values”, and “sustainable practice model”.
